First off, let me thank everyone for the glorious beat downs, exploits and suggestions we've witnessed during the course of our Multiplayer Beta. I'm going to take all of these ideas and compose a compendium of multiplayer dos and don'ts. This sacred document shall live on the internet for all time, well, at least until something better comes along. Also possibly why I'm not sleeping right now, here will be the reasons why:
One. The length of time waiting to get into a match isn't tuned to where we want it to be. Waiting for a match with the same players 3 times in a row is like deja vu. Bad deja vu. We have people with beards working on this. They get to shave when its fixed.
Two. Nobody likes a cutscene in the middle of an epic battle. Its like having to watch a commercial mid round of a prize fight. Every time it happens I curse the Gods for f****n up my perfect combo. And. Since I have a one way direct line to the Gods, they're going to cut that sh** out immediately.
Three. Multiplayer is fun with random people. Multiplayer with people you know is a reason to call in sick. I don't need the eyes of the Oracle to forecast the epidemic of sick days upcoming during the month of March. We are working on this feature, so no worries.
Four. You look like me. I look like you. In the future, we're going to look very different from one another, so you can tell exactly who's boot ended up on who's throat. And look good doing it.
Here is an exclusive first-look at a new armor tinting feature we have implemented to further your Warrrior's customization:
Five. Silence is golden, unless I'm taunting you after I split you in half. Then its permitted.
Six. There are more than a just couple of weapons to master and arenas to spill blood within. In Beta land we learned a lot, and one of the things I learned is that the Gods are very stingy with Betas. The Gods are not stingy with final product however. In that case they're down right Aphrodite-ish.
Our Warrior Customization UI has been heavily modified in large part thanks to your Beta feedback. We've revamped the flow and descriptions to ensure it is easy for you to customize and understand. Here's a glimpse with 3 EXTREMELY IMPORTANT things you should notice:
That's the Armor of Odysseus & Perseus! Pre-Order Ascension and you'll get these in our Mythological Heroes Pack
That Mercenary Sword is epic! Join our social Rise of the Warrior experience and this exclusive legendary blade can be yours, free
GOWA_DEV07 is...and always will be, a bad-ass. He will return on March 12.
Seven. Champions know the value of their kills. Olympus knows the value of their Treasures. And the developers at Sony Santa Monica know that we have a shitload of numbers to crunch and tune based on this very successful Beta.

And thats it. I wanted to write an unfilted bit to you guys, the real deal, and the coffee is wearing off, so let me cap this epiphany with a sincere thank you to the God of War Community out there. This Beta taught us a ton and we're grateful for all of the feedback. When we started this thing, we never thought we knew it all about multiplayer and we still don't. But, man, in just a few years I think we've made great strides because of you! Our community of hardcore, casual, newbie and curious fans have been our greatest professors and gut checkers. Like you, our team has a passion to make it better. Because of your input, I think we're on our way to deliver something that is ultimately really unique and most importantly - FUN! Thank god February is the shortest month in the year because we can't wait to get back in the Arena with you in March.
Because when we resume, I'm going to thoroughly decimate you and banish your helpless soul to Hades. Until then, Champion. |
