Valkyrie Profile aparece por primera vez en un sistema ajeno y sin hacer uso del peculiar estilo en 2D que tan buenos resultados había dado a la saga hasta el momento. Covenant of the Plume, como ha pasado a ser conocido el juego en inglés, es una nueva vuelta de tuerca del género de los SRPGs en el que tri-Ace ha volcado toda su sabiduría y buen hacer, colocando al jugador en la piel de un humano con sed de venganza.
